Part of the Zombie Artists series, this is Frida Kahlo reanimated: dark curls, a ribbon, and an unquiet gaze against a mountainous Mexican landscape. The distant town and volcanic ridges root the portrait in the world around Coyoacán and Mexico City, which remained central to Kahlo’s identity and work. A posthumous portrait with a pulse.
